ACTIVITIES
What activities do you participate in to stay active?

Hiking, kayaking, walking, and volleyball.

IMPACT
How does being active make you feel and why is it important to you?

Being active is so important for my stress relief and mental/physical health and to find company with other women. I work predominantly with males, in a male-dominated environment, and it is a delight to spend time with women, especially great women that I have found in places like on my volleyball team.

SCHEDULING
How do you implement being active into your busy schedule?

I have to schedule through my assistant, that way I have the devoted time for it.

BARRIERS
What barriers have you faced or are you currently facing when it comes to being active?

Job requirements, shiftwork, time. Given the occupational demands on me for time, it is very difficult to arrange and commit to and for myself.

MOTIVATION
What motivates you to continue to be active?

Mental health.

ROLE MODEL
Do you have a role model and/or would you consider yourself to be a role model to others?

While I don’t consider myself to be a role model, I am often the subject of interest as I am the Commanding Officer for the RCMP in NB. I have 1500 employees and am in the public eye, and at the forefront of all things RCMP for this province. I therefore have to be aware that the things I do and say represent the RCMP, and set the tone. I have to always be cognizant of what I am doing and saying and want very much to ensure I am a good representative of the RCMP and its employees!
